ATLANTA - In honor of the inauguration of
Dr. Lawrence M. Schall as Oglethorpe’s 16th president, the
University Singers and University Chorale will present their
spring concert on Friday, April 21, during Inauguration Weekend.
Under the direction of Dr. W. Irwin Ray and accompanied by
pianist David Buice, the concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the
Conant Performing Arts Center. Admission is free. The Singers
will be joined by the Oglethorpe University Chamber Orchestra.
The feature selection is Henry Purcell’s Come, ye Sons of
Art, featuring soloists Anne-Marie Spalinger, soprano, Donna
Carter, mezzo-soprano, and William Borland, bass-baritone. The
concert will feature Swedish, French Canadian, Bosnia-Sephardic
and American folk songs in addition to choral works by Felix
Mendelssohn, Grigory Lvovsky, David Brunner, Alessandro
Scarlatti, Jacques Arcadelt, John Dowland and Francis Hutcheson.

An Evening with the Mayors featuring special guests Mayor
Shirley Franklin and Ambassador Andrew Young, a symposium in the
liberal arts, a day of service with the entire Oglethorpe
community at Garden Hills Elementary, an Atlanta Public School,
