ATLANTA -
In 1870, at the site of the present-day Atlanta City Hall,
Oglethorpe University offered the first evening college courses
in Georgia. Today, Oglethorpe’s University College offers an
accelerated evening degree program for adults.
Oglethorpe’s evening program lets students earn either a
Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Arts in
Liberal Studies degree, with majors in business administration,
accounting, organizational management, psychology,
communications, or history. University College also offers
eleven minors, from art to politics.
Oglethorpe’s University College’s year-round accelerated
schedule allows each student to individualize their program of
study. Conveniently located on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven
between Buckhead and the Perimeter Center, Oglethorpe University
offers the evening adult student full access to campus
facilities and events. Students fully participate in the
Oglethorpe experience, and develop close ties with top-notch
faculty and fellow students. “I love the class sizes. A group of
10 makes for great discussions,” said Constitutional Law
professor and attorney Aimee Maxwell. “My class is full of
confident, mature students of all ages. Oglethorpe is a small
community of learners so most of my students already know each
other and feel comfortable speaking in class.”
“The faculty understands that we have unique needs as working
adults and have full lives beyond the classroom,” said Angela
Stalcup ’03. “I love that I got a quality liberal arts education
at a school with the reputation and academic excellence of
Oglethorpe without quitting my day job,” said Stalcup.
