ATLANTA -
The Golden Petrel Medallion Ceremony will be held at Oglethorpe
University on Saturday, May 13, 2006 following commencement
inside Hearst Hall. The ceremony is the annual celebration of
Oglethorpe alumni who have been graduated 50 years or more.
Oglethorpe University welcomes back 12 members of the
graduating classes of 1939-1956. These graduates include the
elected Chair of the DeKalb County Literacy council, the
President elect of the Georgia Public Health Association,
several World War II veterans and a published poet.
The Golden Petrels will be honored during the 2006 graduation
ceremony with a golden medallion and will attend an honorary
luncheon in the Great Hall following the ceremony.
Pat Mitchell, President and CEO of the Museum of Television
and Radio, Michelle Nunn, Co-Founder and CEO of Hands on Network
and Senator Sam Nunn, co-chairman and CEO of the Nuclear Threat
Initiative will receive honorary degrees during Oglethorpe
University’s 2006 commencement ceremony, to be held Saturday,
May 13, on the Academic Quadrangle at 9:00 a.m.
