ATLANTA -
Nick Moreno, a senior from Carson, California, has been named
the David Wills Presidential Fellow for 2006-2007 by Oglethorpe
University’s Evening Degree Program. Nick, a communications
major and history minor, has been an incredible student while
working full time at Young & Rubicam Advertising.
Moreno has had many “light bulb moments” while studying at
Oglethorpe. “It is those 'a-ha' moments that keep me motivated
and eager to learn more,” said Moreno. He is on track to
graduate in May 2007. “After I complete my undergraduate degree,
I plan to complete my master's in public relations and
advertising.”
David Wills Presidential Fellows must have senior status with a
cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. They must propose a project and
be able to demonstrate distinguished accomplishments in their
major area of study. The winner receives full tuition remission
for four classes and must complete their proposed project.
Nick Moreno has an extensive background in advertising with
Young & Rubicam. He has been responsible for such high-profile
clients as Lincoln Mercury, Jaguar and Land Rover. He has also
worked with financial corporations AON Risk Services and Ernst
and Young, LLP.
In addition to his advertising work, Moreno has produced over
25 critically acclaimed theatrical productions to the stage. In
2003, he received an Elly Award from the Sacramento Regional
Theatre Alliance for his production of Better Places To Go,
which will have its Atlanta premiere at Oglethorpe in October.
Before joining Oglethorpe’s Evening Degree Program, Moreno
studied film production at Columbia College in Chicago. He is a
member of the Georgia Hispanic Network, Georgia Association of
Latino Elected Officials, the Atlanta Junior Chamber and the
Atlanta Executive Network. In addition, he is a distinguished
alumnus of Youth for Understanding and AmeriCorps.
