ATLANTA - Today Oglethorpe University begins a renovation
project on the campus tennis facilities. The most dramatic
improvement will be a Permaflex paving system on all six courts
and improved spectator seating. These improvements were made
possible solely through donor support.
The renovation will include road clearing and paving, new
fencing, nets and retaining wall, repaving and painting of all
courts, new windscreen and bench shade system and the
construction of a beautiful gazebo. This impressive renovation
will be done by Southeastern Tennis and is set to be completed
by mid-September.
Oglethorpe’s men’s tennis team showed tremendous effort last
season by capturing a winning record and finishing seventh in
the SCAC. The women’s team also finished the season with a
strong record. Players from both teams were asked to represent
Oglethorpe on the SCAC All-Tournament and All-Conference Teams.
“With all of these improvements complete, Oglethorpe’s tennis
program will be better suited to face all opponents in the
coming years,” said Oglethorpe University athletic director Jay
Gardiner.
