ATLANTA --
Hollywood actor Doug Hutchison will discuss his book The Green
Mile Journal and attend a screening of
The Green Mile
Monday, October 16 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Lupton Auditorium
on the Oglethorpe University campus. This event precedes the
Dialogue on the Death Penalty conference featuring Sister Helen
Prejean November 16 through 17 at Oglethorpe.
Doug Hutchison played Percy Wetmore in the 1999
Oscar-nominated film The Green Mile. Hutchison will read
from The Green Mile Journal, which he wrote during the filming
of the movie. An audience question and answer session will be
held at the end of the reading.
The Green Mile is set on death row in a Southern
prison in 1935 and is the remarkable story of an inmate with a
miraculous gift and his impact on the men who guarded him. The
movie will be screened inside Lupton Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. on
October 16. These two events are free and open to the public.
