ATLANTA --
Oglethorpe University’s evening degree program presents the
Atlanta premiere of Better Places To Go on October 25 and 26 at
8:30 p.m. in Lupton Auditorium. This provocative new play and
winner of the 2003 Elly Award for best original script is
written and directed by critically acclaimed playwright
David-Mathew Barnes ’06.
Ten lives come to a crossroads on a stormy night in a Grand
Island, Nebraska, diner. Better Places To Go explores the lives
of a young waitress fighting impulses to murder her grandmother,
a busboy who is in love with his gun-toting best friend, a
self-absorbed woman en route to her own wedding and a pregnant
teenager who has fled from the father of her unborn child. In
the course of one night, confessions of emotional secrets are
revealed, forever changing each character’s life.
"The characters and their lives are compelling and the
dialogue is sharp,” writes The Sacramento News and Review.
Better Places To Go contains adult language and mature
content and is not suitable for younger audiences. This
production is presented by the evening degree program’s student
activities committee. General admission tickets will be
available at the door for $5. For additional information, please
