Student Volunteers Clean Up the Beltlinee
ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University students will volunteer with Trees Atlanta, BeltLine Partnerships, PATH and Park Pride on a Beltline clean-up project Saturday, October 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Volunteers from across Atlanta will be cleaning up a one mile stretch of the Beltline.
Oglethorpe’s Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) has organized 22 Oglethorpe students to clean-up debris and landscape the area. Students must bring a reusable water bottle and will enjoy a free picnic lunch on site. The CCE vans will leave the Emerson Student Center at 8:30 a.m. and will meet community volunteers at Brown Middle School. Call 404.504.1978 for more information.
Oglethorpe’s Center for Civic Engagement is a new initiative to integrate classroom learning with experiences throughout Atlanta, supporting the community while strengthening the university’s academic offerings. The center coordinates Oglethorpe's programs to support faculty and students as they integrate classroom learning with community experiences through service-learning, internships, partnerships with non-profit organizations and meetings with some of the city’s most influential leaders.
