Actress Performs and Instructs at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA – Popular New York performance artist Heather Harpham presents her solo show on February 16 and intensive theater workshop on February 17 at Oglethorpe University. Her solo work and workshop have been featured in San Francisco, Santa Fe and New York theatre festivals and colleges and universities.

Born Again is a story of Harpham’s characters, including Make-Over Barbie, a homeless Russian intellectual dissident and a young girl who wants off life support. The characters all share a fixation with the demands and limitations of the physical body and a fascination with getting out of their own skin.

The one-woman show will be performed on Friday, February 16 at Oglethorpe’s Lupton Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for seniors and students. Call 404.504.1074 for more information.

Heather Harpham’s Workshop in Action Theater introduces the techniques of Ruth Zaporah’s famed Action Theater. Harpham, who has trained and performed extensively with Zaporah leads theatre students and artists in improvisation trainings that integrate movement, vocalization and speech into spontaneous expression.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, February 17 in Rehearsal Hall A of Oglethorpe’s Conant Performing Arts Center from 1:30 until 4:00 p.m. This event is free with advance registration. Call 404-504-3409 or email DMerola@oglethorpe.edu.
