Oglethorpe Students Visit The King Center
ATLANTA – This Saturday 25 Oglethorpe University students will tour The King Center from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. as part of Oglethorpe’s OUr Atlanta Program.
OUr Atlanta is a program designed to engage Oglethorpe students with up-close-and-personal opportunities in the city’s cultural, athletic, business, research, service and government communities. The goal of the program is to reinforce and enrich the academic experience, to inspire students to become contributing citizens and to solidify their connection to the city.
“Through this program we are enabling students to apply theories learned in the classroom in very practical ways in the Atlanta community. It is our goal that every Oglethorpe graduate will know what it means to be an actively involved citizen who contributes to the communities in which we live, work and play," said Oglethorpe Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) Director, Tamara Nash.
Students will visit The King Center, briefly tour Morehouse College, Dr. King's alma mater and enjoy lunch at historic Paschal's Restaurant. The tours and lunch are sponsored by the Oglethorpe Center for Civic Engagement. The CCE vans will leave at 10:00 a.m. from Emerson Student Center. Call 404.504.1978 for more information.
