Duo Zhou of Qingyuan, China, Wins Scholarship
ATLANTA – Duo Zhou, a rising senior at Oglethorpe University from Qingyuan, China, has been awarded the Mary Jane Stuart Kohler Memorial Scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The scholarship selection committee seeks to find someone who “has an outgoing, upbeat personality; is passionate in the pursuit of personal excellence; is active in campus life; and displays a strong sense of compassion for those less fortunate.”
Duo is an accounting major and is the treasurer of the Oglethorpe Accounting Society. She is a member of Oglethorpe Circle K, Beta Omicron Sigma (a business honor society) as well as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Project Open Hand and Hillside Children’s Hospital.
The Mary Jane Stuart Kohler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Mr. and Mrs. Aurel Stuart, Jr., in loving memory of their daughter, Mary Jane, class of 1990. A member of Oglethorpe’s Athletic Hall of Fame, Mary Jane distinguished herself as an excellent student, a fun-loving and involved participant in campus life and a superior athlete.
