Literature on Screen at Oglethorpe University
ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University presents the 2nd Annual Literature on Screen Academic Conference on Thursday, September 20 through 22 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Scholars from the United States, Europe and Australia will be delivering papers on topics surrounding literature and film, and the Oxford University Press will launch its newest journal, Adaptation.
Topics presented at the conference include: French Adaptations, Shakespeare and Film, Chick Flicks, Victorianism and Neo-Victorian Literature on Screen and Parody and Adaptations.
Barton Palmer, Oglethorpe University and Clemson University professor, will deliver the first plenary session Friday, September 21 from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tennessee Williams and the Postwar Southern Film in Lupton Auditorium. This session is free and open to the public.
Neil Sinyard of the University of Hull will deliver the second plenary session Saturday, September 22 from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Aspects of Innocence and Experience: Some Thoughts on Literature and Film Analogy, with Particular Reference to the Works of Henry James and Billy Wilder in Lupton Auditorium.
