Oglethorpe Welcomes New Trustees

ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University is proud to announce David Garrett, III, Veronica Holmes ’02, Tad Hutcheson, Cemal Özgörkey ’84, Bob Reiser, Trish Treadwell ’96, Pamela Tremayne, Anita Patterson ’97 and J. Cleve Hill ’01 as new members of the Board of Trustees.

David Garrett, III is chairman of Mallory & Evans Development and has served on the boards of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Economic Developers Association and the Oglethorpe University President’s Advisory Council.

Veronica Holmes ’02 is an adjunct history professor at Oglethorpe and Georgia State Universities. Holmes is originally from Guyana, South America, and completed her degree summa cum laude with honors in Philosophy. She is a member of the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art Advisory Board and served on the President’s Advisory Council.

Tad Hutcheson is vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways. He is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta and serves on the boards of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Junior Achievement of Georgia, King College, Leadership Atlanta, Travelers' Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

Cemal Özgörkey ’84 is founder and deputy director of management for Etap Industry and Investment Holding Inc. and is the ministry director of management for Özgörkey Holding Inc. Formerly with Coca-Cola in Kemalpasa, Turkey, Özgörkey is also a member of TÜSIAD and ESIAD, the founding member of EGIAD and president of the Izmir Horseback Riding Club.

Bob Reiser is the executive vice president and chief investment officer of Balentine & Co. in Buckhead. He serves on the boards of Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Botanical Garden and Georgia Shakespeare. Reiser is the former chair of the Georgia State University Foundation Board and a member of the Woodruff Arts Center and Reinhardt College boards.

Trish Treadwell ’96 is an associate with Parker Hudson Rainer & Dobbs, LLP in the firm's Litigation Practice Group. Treadwell is a member of Oglethorpe University’s Alumni Board, the graduate leadership council of Georgia State University School of Law, the Atlanta Bar Association and Law School Outreach Committee, and she was formerly an Oglethorpe Young Alumni Trustee.

Pamela Tremayne, an Atlanta lawyer, is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, Old Warhorse Lawyers Club, the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, the Washington University (St. Louis) Alumni Association and the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art Advisory Board. She graduated from Emory Law School and was previously a member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta Board.

Anita Patterson ’97 is the director of treasury operations and Patriot Act compliance officer for Manheim Auto Auction, a division of Cox Enterprises, Inc. Patterson is a member of the SunTrust Advisory Board, the Wachovia Large Corporate Advisory Board, chair for the national AFP Payments Advisory Group, a member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia Board of Directors, past president of the Association for Financial Professionals of Atlanta and current Oglethorpe University Alumni Board President.

J. Cleve Hill ’01 is an attorney with the Law Firm of Phill Bettis in Alpharetta. Hill handles real estate closings, estate planning and small-to mid-size business transactions. He received the Oglethorpe President’s Citizenship Award and graduated from Mercer Law School. He served on the Oglethorpe University Alumni Board and is a member of the Stormy Petrel Bar Association. Hill will serve the Oglethorpe University Board of Trustees as the Young Alumni representative.
