Rodin and Strindberg at Oglethorpe
ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University Museum of Art presents a lecture on Rodin and Strindberg Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Skylight Gallery. Oglethorpe Professor of French and Frances I. Eeraerts ’76 Professor of Foreign Language Jay Lutz delivers a lecture on two artists whose forms linked the cultures of Sweden and France as the fin de siècle faded into the twentieth century.
In addition to sharing a common first name (“August” and “Auguste”), Strindberg and Rodin both served as creators of a challenging new modernism through their art. The plays of Strindberg fit into the same sensual universe Rodin develops in his sculpture.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information please visit www.oglethorpe.edu (keyword: museum) or call 404.364.8555.
