Steve Martin Comedy Double Billed with Original Production
ATLANTA - Oglethorpe University’s theater department presents a Steve Martin classic, WASP, in a double bill with the premiere production of A Fiction by Sasha Travis, founder of the Savannah Actor’s Theatre, April 10 through 12 at 8:00 p.m. and April 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Conant Performing Arts Center.
WASP, by comedian/playwright Steve Martin, begins as a normal family dinner but quickly digresses into a search for meaning and conflict over mango gelatin. Despite their individual weirdness, the audience can identify with each family member as they try to make their family work.
A Fiction is about a young woman's attempt to live a life that is as frighteningly unreal as it is real. Follow Lauralai through her painfully honest and often comedic world in which drugs, unexpected friends and abusive lizards are part of the norm that she struggles to stabilize. Mature content.
Directed by Oglethorpe University seniors Sara Troficanto and Zoe Cooper. Tickets: $5 general admission. For more information call 404.504.1074.
