Follow Up to Super Tuesday: A Political Conference
ATLANTA – On Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m., Oglethorpe University’s department of history, politics and international studies presents The Future of Liberalism and Conservatism in and after 2008 with keynote speaker Jonah Goldberg, nationally syndicated columnist, National Review contributing editor and author of Liberal Fascism.
The conference will feature two roundtable discussions. Liberalism and Conservatism in 2008 will be discussed by Peter Lawler (Berry College/No Left Turns), Jay Bookman (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution), Bryan McGraw (Emory University), Susan McWilliams (Pomona College) and Matthew Franck (Radford University/NRO’s Bench Memos) from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
Democrats and Republicans after Super Tuesday will feature Eric Sands (Berry College), Alan Abramowitz (Emory University/Daily Strategist), Jay Cost (Real Clear Politics/Horserace Blog) and Jon Schaff (Northern State University/South Dakota Politics) from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
The keynote address and roundtable discussions will take place in Oglethorpe’s Lupton Auditorium. Free and open to the public. Scheduled participants subject to change. For more information please call 404.364.8341.
Also on Thursday, February 7, the MIT Club of Atlanta brings MIT Political Science Professor Adam Berinsky to Oglethorpe University at 7:00 p.m. Professor Berinsky is well-known for his research on polling. His talk will be extremely timely considering that the Presidential primary elections tomorrow. A reception will be held immediately following the talk.
