Healthcare Policy Expert and Feminist to Speak

ATLANTA -Sponsored by Oglethorpe Students for Life, Karen Shablin will present Abortion: A Betrayal of Feminism on March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conant Performing Arts Center’s lobby.

Shablin, Feminists for Life (FFL) of America speaker, will address the impact of healthcare policymaking on abortion, including the controversial implementation of the family cap in welfare reform. FFL has emerged as the link between the pro-life and pro-choice organizations, working on legislative efforts such as child support enforcement and the Violence Against Women Act, and opposing child exclusion provisions in welfare reform.

Founded in 1972, FFL is a national non-sectarian, grassroots organization that continues the efforts of the early American feminists, including Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, to systematically eliminate the root causes that drive women to abortion by facilitating practical solutions.

The lecture is sponsored by Oglethorpe Students for Life. For more information, visit www.feministsforlife.org or contact Laura Callender at 404.375.7048. To schedule an interview with Shablin contact FFL at 703.836.3354 or email coordinator@ffloncampus.org.
