Lawrenceville Student Receives J. Frederick Agel Endowed Scholarship
ATLANTA –Oglethorpe University student Catherine Olivia Rocamora ’10, of Lawrenceville, has been named the recipient of the prestigious J. Frederick Agel Endowed Scholarship.
Awarded to a collegiate junior whose contributions to student life are exemplary and whose grade point average qualifies him/her for Latin Honors, the Agel Endowed Scholarship will support Rocamora during her senior year at Oglethorpe University.
Rocamora is a double major in English and Spanish and a member of the Honors Program. While maintaining a 3.963 grade point average, she has been inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society, is a member of Phi Eta Sigma, is a Presidential Scholar, Blackwell Music Scholar and Oglethorpe Christian Scholar and serves as an Oglethorpe Student Ambassador. She also participates in the Oglethorpe Singers and tutors for the Oglethorpe Writing Center.
"Part of the intimacy of Oglethorpe is having well-loved faculty and staff honor students for their academic dedication to the school, and I cannot express gratitude enough for being recognized,” Rocamora said. “Oglethorpe means a great deal to me, and it really is an honor to receive a scholarship and affirmation by another lover of Oglethorpe, Mr. Agel."
Rocamora received the award before a large crowd in the Conant Performing Arts Center at Oglethorpe University April 14. Among the audience members were Rocamora’s family and scholarship namesake, Fred Agel.
