Sustainability is meeting “the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”*. Oglethorpe University established its Sustainability Initiative in the spring of 2008 to improve the sustainability of its campus and its community. The Initiative strives to coordinate and support all ongoing activities related to sustainability as well as to initiate and fund new activities related to sustainability. Ongoing activities include recycling, replacement of old lighting systems, and use of organic/local foods at the dining hall. New activities include a campaign to educate campus residents on wise use of natural resources and “green” renovations of existing facilities.
Please support the Initiative in whatever way you can; help make the campus and our community sustainable!

giftcards to students who recited the energy conservation tips posted around campus.
